On a beautiful cloudy afternoon of February 19th, a select group of people met at Cafe Flo Karachi for the preview of a revolutionary new product (note that I don’t use the words revolutionary product that often).
The product: BB cream
What does it do: Basically all the basic stuff that one wants (moisture, coverage , protection etc.)
The décor and ambience was just perfect, the cloudy Karachi gave just the perfect lighting, tables set perfectly and the lilies made up for perfect centre pieces. Hats off to the event management team!
To start off the brand custodian Zainab Pasha explained the concept and background about term BB cream & to be frank when I first heard about the term BB I thought it had to something about the former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto or blackberry but as I started to ask my friends and family they came up with totally absurd associations from Bed and Bath to Blackberry. But the reason why we all were gathered at Garnier BB brunch had nothing to do with all of these. Apparently it was all-in-one facial cosmetic product that works as a moisturiser, primer, foundation, and sunblock. Often mistaken for a tinted moisturiser, BB creams are a step further they often include ingredients that nourish your skin as well.
Introduced first in 1960s by a German dermatologist Dr. Christine Schrammek for patients who had just undergone surgery. The idea of BB is to provide optimal coverage of a primer+foundation with genuine benefits for skin. This new beauty product has taken the personal grooming world by storm. Asians for one and specially the Koreans seem to be crazy about it, so how could the developing world(us) be left behind?
The Garnier BB cream which was unveiled at this event does not do 1 or 2 things but does 5 great things for your skin: it illuminates, covers, evens out skin tone, protects from UV damage and hydrates. Moreover it is available in two variants the regular one(which is a bit darker) and the Oil-free variant. I personally thought that the Oil-free variant was a bit too powdery white and didn’t blend well but my colleague who is a bit fair is a big fan of it and swears by it. So if you are still unsure whether to try it or not, it could be of a little comfort to you that it was chosen as one of the best BB creams by Vogue UK and other publications and also was the chosen for 2012 Product of the Year Award. The best thing out of all is that it is very economical(retails for less than Rs500 a tube), it is indeed a Miracle Skin Perfector.
To all the young guys and girls who find make-up specially the foundation and compact powders a bit too daunting. The BB cream is perfect to go, you can literally carry it in your bag and just slither it up whenever you need a little coverage and beauty on go. It is perfect skin in just 30 seconds.
